Dinky 25h Stream Lined Fire Engine

The Dinky Stream Lined Fire Engine. In April 1936, Dinky Toys introduced the Streamlined Fire Engine, 25h, which cost 9 pence. From May through to December, the Streamlined Fire Engine appeared in the Dinky Toys advert within the Meccano Magazine. In July, 1936, the model featured on the magazine's prestigious penultimate page where, at a time of almost no colour printing, the page was tinted blue to denote its importance.

In 1953, the model was re-introduced and throughout the summer of that year, the model was advertised in the Meccano Magazine at a cost of 2/11. Although renumbered 250, between 1953 and 1958, the model had smooth black tyres, which were eventually replaced with treaded tyres. The model had a tinplate ladder and brass bell, with the appliances rear fittings painted silver. The model was discontinued in 1962.

The actual fire engine was manufactured by Leyland, the 'Cub' design and chassis, with Merryweather 'Limousine' bodywork and a range of fittings. Throughout the 1930s and 1940s, the Streamlined Fire Engine was popular with many brigades, including Bournemouth, London, Coventry, Stourbridge, Lancaster, Newcastle, Redcar and Carlisle. The vehicle was also exported to Austria.

Launched in 1936, re-issued in 1953, re-numbered in 1954 and deleted in 1962. available in red finish. Dinky 25h in detail...

French Dinky 25D Citroen 2CV Fourgonnette, Pompiers/ Incendie

The French Dinky Citroen 2CV Fourgonnette, Pompiers/ Incendie. In the 1958 catalogue, French Dinky introduced the Citroën 2CV Fourgonnette, Pompiers et Incendie, or Fire Investigation Service van. The model cost 310 Fr. or about 6/3. A decal on each side door and an opening rear door, the traditional red Fire Service colour characterised this 84mm long vehicle. Concave wheel hubs were standard, with smooth black tyres. In reality, Citroën built the 2CV van at the former Panhard factory, Porte d' Ivry, in the south-east of Paris. Known as 'The little workhorse', one and a quarter million of these vans were produced between 1951 and 1981. A technologically advanced vehicle, with a simple design, its body was inspired by the German war-time Junkers JU52 transport plane. In 1959, the model was renumbered 562, but its cost remained 310 Fr. The model was also deleted in 1959. available in red finish. French Dinky 25D in detail...

French Dinky 570 Peugeot J7 Van

The French Dinky Peugeot J7 Van. In 1967, after an eight year gap, French Dinky re-introduced model 570. The new model was not, however, an update of 570/1, the Somua Panhard Parisian bus, but the introduction of a new Peugeot J7 delivery van. Designated 570/2, the Peugeot J7 "Allo Fret" was 108mm long and cost Fr. 17 (new Francs). In the livery of "Allo Fret", a logistics company, the 570/2 version, introduced sliding doors, rear doors that opened and lifted, internal fittings, suspension and jewelled headlights. Its most distinctive feature was the blue plastic roof with an antenna, which was replaced by a white roof in the 1968 modification, 570/3. The model was withdrawn in 1971. Rare variants of the model include the orange, 570A, the Peugeot J7 "Autoroutes" and the 570P, the Peugeot J7 Pompiers. These were withdrawn in 1971 and 1972, respectively. available in red, blue finish. French Dinky 570 in detail...
